When creating ctf_aerospace I decided to create a pair of planes that would catch the character of each TF2 team and fit in with the game's unique visuals and theme.
The Redbaron model keeps with the more primitive and aggressive visual of the Red team. It is a mix of the Red Baron's Fokker DR-I with a Hot-rod car style.
The Blustar, on the other hand, follows the sleek and industrial feel of Blu's team. It's based on one of the earliest functional jet engine planes again mixed with a hot-rod.
The capture room where each briefcase is kept is filled with desks containing the details and schematics for the prototypes.
Above are the skybox models for the control towers around each base.
Below is a collection of most props created for the map, including the hangar detail pieces and ceiling. The top right trees and skybox mountains where used on early stages of the level when I was still using a southern tropical jungle theme. When VALVe released the Alpine set of props for the game I chose to focus on the airports and change the theme.
